I have a 2005 CMax Ghia 1.8 petrol,
I have been offered a 2007 Mark 2 CMax 1.8 Zetec for a very good price.

My car has cruise control and a 6 CD Sony HU.

The potential replacement doesn't. I want cruise as I use it heavily!

Is it possible to swap the steering wheel from my car which has the cruise control buttons on to the later car which doesn't and visa versa? If so, what else is needed to enable cruise control on car which didn't come from the factory with it?

Is it possible to change the illumination colour on the Sony unit from green to red in a cost effective way?

Many Thanks

Andy

Sounds like a lot of work for a car that's only two years newer and is a lesser model?

The 2007 is my Dads. It's done 17,000 miles. Always garages, Colorado red! It's lovely. Mine is a tonic blue 2005 with 52k on it, an occasional EGR fault and a wide range of minor scratches and dings.

So, any ideas on do ability?

I assumed, take steering wheel off, swap, plug in wires, get ford to program it?

Do all cmaxs come with the wiring? And sensors?

For cruise control to work with petrol there will have to be some form of "throttle jack" to open and closethe throttle to maintain speed. I wouldn't expect this to be in place if not required
I wouldn't expect that a cruise control swap was just swap the steering wheels. The other part that I can think of straight away would probably be an extra "disconnect" switch for the brake pedal for instance and probably several other sensors for speed and vacuum

Hmm. Thing is, the cmax 1.8 is a fly by wire engine so it has vacuum gauge included in the electronics. Also, I've since read elsewhere, that in some cases the wiring is all there, just needs the wheel and a flash of the ecu to allow it to work. Anyone retro fitted cruise to a Max?

Would be an interesting upgrade...though I DON'T think I'd trust it myself if I'D fitted it!

Luckily I reckon I know someone who I COULD trust. Any more info folks???
