Love this car!!

Hi everyone,

Just done our first proper journey in my 1.8 petrol cmax and I have to say I love this car!! It's so nice to drive and comfortable too, we did over 700 miles including going down to Lulworth in Dorset, travelling round Dorset and Somerset and back to Norfolk and it returned 36mpg and that was fully stacked to the roof with child, luggage and 'supplies'! Most of the motorway mileage was at 75-80mph (it's great travelling overnight) and my expectations were exceeded by a long way!

Had a bit of bother today with the central locking, drivers door and fuel cap unlocking but no other doors would open from outside or in! I made sure the key was set correctly, i.e held both buttons in until indicators flashed but made no difference. Eventually I got the passenger door open and lowered the fuse board / door lock module - 'wiggled' a couple of connectors, tried it again and everything worked! I can only assume (or hope after reading some of the horror stories about the GEM!!) one of the tiny connector pins had a high resistance across it.

Glad your having fun and no problems in in your cmax

Unfortunately my 2.0 petrol cmax zetec has had many problems and its only done 40,000 miles 10,000 of which i done.

I'm thinking of chopping it in for a MG ZT?
Hope you get many miles of trouble less fun in your cmax

Oh dear! Sounds like a 'Friday afternoon' build! I noticed you're looking for the ECU in another post, I think mine is located beside the battery under a black plastic cover. Viewing the battery from the front of the car, just to the left of the battery theres a fairly flat looking module with a large amount of wires entering it!
