Left rear Brake Caliper

Hi, i have a Ford Focus C max 1.6 petrol LX and ive been doing the back brakes today. And the right hand side rear was a breeze but the left hand side caliper has been a right pig. the piston in the caliper will not go back enough to make way for new pads. We've tryed winding it back with a G clamp. We used so much pressure to push the piston back the G clamp bent i half. So we put it in a vice and the piston will still not go back. So i put the old pads back in and put the caliper. What i dont understand is the caliper will go forward but not backwards. Am i doing something wrong, is it meant to be done a special way? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

rear caliper pistons are different to the fronts, they have to be wound in clockwise using either a piston rewind tool available from most good motorfactors or using a pair of long nose pliers.

Thanger dodger and tony c max. and no the right hand side is good. thinking about it i think the left side is seized because turning the piston clockwise it did not go back it stayed in same position. so ive ordered a new caliper. This is the C max's first pair of new pads because she's only done 23k from new (2005) the right one was a breeze to do the piston went back and we put the new pads in. i hate the springy clip the goes on the of the pads. It kept falling off. Thanks for posts!
