Hi,

I have a 2 Liter Petrol Auto, only had it about 2 months.

It does use more petrol than I expected, but it is a heavy car compared to my old one, a Carina E, and being auto doesn't help.

I find I'm getting about 28 mpg around town, this is short, slow trips.

Drove back from Birmingham Friday and on a long motorway run it was showing 38 mpg which I thought was quite good.

I don't race about but do cruse at the max speed allowed .

I've checked the mpg shown on the display with what I'm using and it seem quite accurate, the displayed mpg my be a bit under but only by one or two mpg.

That sounds good- suppose living in Central London drops mpg a lot then as never get more than 21.6 around town

Should have seen mine in the snow - 17 mpg! My old Toyota had a snow setting on the auto: no such luck on this crap transmission.

Just used a product called CARLUBE petrol treatment I found in Homebase and it has pushed up the MPG -I thought Redex was snake oil but my Trip Computer is saying nearly 10 mpg more than it did previously.I have only done 20 miles so far but very pleased.

I have read many warnings about such products. They do boost mpg in the short term but can mess up your oxygen sensor and even your cat. They are also nasty pollutants.

I am a month into a 56 plate 2.0 petrol Auto.

Like the car buit would love to take a baseball bat to the trip computer.

Poor figures compel me to drive like a granny. I can't resist switching to see it, thenI am sucked into a battle of wills with it.

Wife gets a horrible 18 - 20mpg on her work run.

I got 42 mpg on a heathrow run (but I drove like a grannie)

Intersted to hear of any way to improve this performance.

Sounds just like me and my lead-booted wife. If I didn't drive it at the weekend it would never get above 23mpg.

By the way, do you find the accelerator it very jerky when it picks up after slowing down? Mine is hard to drive smoothly unless you drive fast; I put it down to the auto box.
