Henley Festival

Went to the Henley festival last night against my better judgement. Really not my thing too many people I would rather not be with.

But the real issue with the night was leaving my brand new C-Max in a field. So after a few hours watching the show I pressured my Wife into leaving early (before we had eaten at 10:30!) because I was concerned about the constant rain. Well no surprise I got bogged down in the mud and had to call for help. At this point I wish I had realised the towing hook is opposite thread because I did become a bit annoyed Anyway two nice men arrived about an hour later and pulled me out.

So today I've spent a good deal of time cleaning the car inside and out, the mats were really bad. I should have taken a picture first

Still one things for certain I'll never park in a field again when it's been raining hard.

In any field park as high as possible aimed facing in the direction you wish to go to avoid needing to manoever having checked where exits are first

If it is very bad (Glastonbury festival ?) there is not much you can do. If it is just muddy, very wet grass, or not too deep puddles, treat it like snow and ice. As Richard says, drive straight ahead, to start with. Do not use power it will only spin the wheels and make matters worse. Try to get the car moving as though being pushed on a normal surface. The more gentle the better. Experienced caravanners manage to get off partially flooded, muddy, grass sites without too much fuss. We have had plenty of practice this year!
I hope that you manage to get your lovely new car cleaned up soon.

Unfortunately I had no choice where I went. Now the car is clean and O.K. I don't feel too bad but last night I was absolutely gutted.
