Hi recently i thought my cmax had been using a lot of diesel.
Then i turned on the ignition when it told me low fuel level when a few hours previous i had a quarter in the tank.
After a few moments the needel moved back, i have been told it could be the feul sender unit.
Does anyone think so and how do i get to it to replace it.

Evening Pete83,

Good chance it is the fuel sender unit. This is located inside the fuel tank and requires you to jack the car up or haveit overthe pit to drop out the fuel tank to replace it.

If you can put up with it just go by resetting your trip computer.

Depending on your DIY level, maybe best to get the garage to confirm that is the part and nothing else.

Hope this helps.

PS - if your tempurature gauge is playing up at the same time, it maybe your instrument cluster.
