Hi guys,

I've already introduced myself and thought I'd get straight to it. I'm interested in changing the bulbs on my 2008 Zetec and am after a little advice on bulbs. Apologies as I know this has been covered MANY MANY times

I'm after straight replacement bulbs and have come across plenty on offer on various sites, mainly fleabay.
-Are there any make/manufacturers/types to stay clear of?
-is there any advatange to paying more for a branded name such as osram or philips?
-do I need High/Low/Fog/side Bulbs - H7 H1 H8 501's
-are 100w legal as most bulbs are 55w

I have a few links that I've been considering if you could shed some light (haha couldn't resist)

Redline complete set

Osram nightbreakers

Philips extreme power h7s
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PHILIPS-H7...item4840f14c3a

sorry for the question overkill but I would like to get it right first time. I'm also going to think about LED numberplate lights and interior lights but one area at a time

your help is appreciate, Kev

A reasonable place to start for supply
http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/

I have the Osran nightbreakers fiited to mine. I'd only bother changing the H/Lamps if you have to buy them. Often LED sightlight bulbs come as free gifts and will also fit certain of the interior (Footwell) lights

100W bulbs are not legal for road use (Road legal bulbs will have an E approval number)

Hi Kev,I changed both side & dipped main bulbs not long after I got our Max & I`m well pleased. The side bulbs are Phillips X-treme Power X-7`s & the dipped/main (same bulb) are Phillips Blue Vision Xenon Effect H1`s.Both are road legal as they are 12V 55W.Not sure how much they are these days as I got mine 4 years ago.I got them from the link Richard G has provided. They were well priced (then) & very quick with delivery.

I probably already know the answer but are the cheaper sets not up to the same quality at the branded names? eg this redline set of 55w superwhites

I've changed my dipped H7's for the osram nightbreaker+ and am very happy with the result. Will be changing the mains H1 for the same in the near future.
