hi everyone

over the past 18 months since purchasing my 1.8petrol cmax it has been back to my local ford dealer 5 times for pinking issues. the first 3 visits i was told it needed a ecu update and the problem would be solved, which it was for a couple of months only for the symptoms to re appear.

the 4th visit in feb of this year i was told that the ecu was up to date but ford uk had sent a bulletin to its dealers advising customers to use super unleaded fuel to solve the pinking issues ( me now thinking this is a common problem).

went back in a week ago as the car now sounds like a diesel when accelerating and under load. another ecu update was done with the tech now telling us that this latest update would revert the car back to be able to run on normal unleaded, first we had to run the super unleaded right down, dilute it with un leaded, run this down and then fill up with unleaded.what a joke the car now is worse than ever and we have gone full circle in 18 months, back into ford today who now have arranged to have a ford field tech sent down to look at it.

has any one had an issue with the ecu on the petrol cmax and how was it resolved
