please help ive just been quoted 600.00 (ford garage) to have this valve replaced.
On my 2005 1.8tdci c-max
I live in cornwall so only have limted garages (ford)
This seems a lot to me am i being ripped off?
Also does it have to be a ford garage that carries out the work.
Ive only had the car for 4 mths now.
Any advice..

Anyone can replace the valve but there is a software update that cycles the valve that will prevent it from reoccuring that only a Ford dealership can do.

the 1.8 doesnt have the same egr as the 2.0 tdci, they are a different engine. there is no way it should cost 600, i had mine changed on a 2.0 tdci and it cost 350 from a main dealer, so the 1.8 should be cheaper. i think that you can diisconnect the egr on the 1.8 just by um[plugging the little hose that goes to it and just block the pipe off, this wll make the car run better, they are only there for emissions and will still pass the mot.
