Get a long screwdriver and push down the plastic slats at the rear of the assembly, it should then slide out forwards easily.

I found that on mine that the light unit needed wiggling forwards a bit, then I could remove it by pulling it straight upwards. Mine wouldn't go straight forwards. Any way on the plastic strip retainers at the bottom of the light housing, a poke with a long stick works to. I used a bamboo garden cane!

Iv'e recently changed my headlamp bulbs and the offside headlamp unit was a real pig to get out, it wouldn't budge,I kept thinking I must have missed a fixing somewhere.I changed my attention to the nearside lamp and that came out fairly easily so I returned to the other lamp and gave it a real good tug and it eventually came free. A bit of a farce though just to change a bulb, glad I was in my garage at the time and not stuck at the side of the road at nighttrying to do it!

Try it on a Fiat Stilo, it is either front bumper off, or wheel off and go in through the wheel arch. In comparison cmax is a doddle!
