Hi All,

When I turn on the ignition om our CMAX the yellow indicator on the A/C button always illuminates.
During this weather I always turn it off before cranking and starting the car.

So, why next time when I turn on the ignition does it come back on again ?

I would of thought that once I had turned it off it would stay off until I switched it back on ?

Bit of a pain having to switch it off every time I use the car at the moment !!

Can't be right, can it ?

Ta.

If you have the airflow direction control on your heater/aircon control panel set to "Demist", ie directing the air onto the windscreen, the aircon compressor will automatically start. This is normal. If the air is set to go anywhere else, it should stay switched off until you put it on. There may be a fault with the airflow control which makes it come on in any position. Probably best to get it checked out.

Spot on, Thanks very much..

I have now set it to the midway position (50% up and 50% down) and guess what, the A/C does not come on every time I turn on the ignition.

Also, like you say, as soon as it is set to Demist, on comes the A/C !!

Sorts of makes sense really, as I guess you need dry air to demist.

I think it is working correctly now I understand its operation, so you have saved me a trip to the dealer.

Thanks for the explanation, I am glad I asked now as it was bugging me.

Cheers, and Happy Christmas.

Hi Andy. Glad I was able to be of help. It pays to read the handbook if you have one. Only reason I knew was because another car I had on hire once (Pug 306) did the same. If you don't have a handbook you can download a copy of the 2007 version here http://my.opera.com/Brecknaheim/blog/ some of the stuff, like the fuses, is different, but most of it is similar enough to be useful. Feel free to have a look at the rest of the page if you like.

Cheers Colin
