I went to open my boot today and it wouldnt open, The only way i can open it now is pressing the button on the key or putting key into the lock. Has anyone ever had a problem with this and if so how did you solve it. Had a look on ebay and a new part is only 30 inc p&p which isn`t to bad but just thought i`d ask before i buy a new one.

I have indeed and fixed it without having to have a new part
You will have to take the tail gate lining off to get at the inside
What has probably happened is that the piece of plastic that holds the end of the bowden cable that the key operates has partially beoken and the end of the cable has slightly bent and come away. A judicial straighten with a pair of long nose pliars and the use of a short "zip clip" to retain the cable end should fix it
