Yesterday I noticed a slight but definite smell of bad eggs in my car . Checked everything obvious [old shopping, Mrs Raver, etc] but have to conclude that it's coming from the car. I seem to remember a post about this on the site, but can't find it on search. I did put the air-con on the other day and wondered whether that might be the problem.
Anybody had similar egginessand know how to fix it?

The first obvious check as it is a petrol is that the catalyst boxes are all OK

Lots of eggy smells used to come from catalysts pre ultra low sulphur petrol. Now it's quite rare. If you don't fancy paying a garage to check the cat, try an Italian tune up. Really hammer the car, right up close to red line. The extra exhaust heat will help burn off any contaminants in the cat. Maybe throw a good dose of redex in there too? A good hammering once in a while does an engine some real good. Helps to get things moving, maybe also try to disconnect the battery over night afterwards to reset all ecu parameters for relearning. That often helps the car feel perkier. I'm coming from Alfa Romeo and Fiat ownership where this is a monthly need in some cases!

Well Andy, I did just that at the weekend - a good long run to lovely Orford on the Suffolk coast, making sure I red-lined it more thanoccasionally. You're right, the smell is now gone. I had just had the annual service and MOT done, so maybe the tinkering had something to do with it. Anyway, all seems to be right now.
Many thanks for the input .
