OK - had the engine warning light come on and the car is still under warranty.

Just got back from the garage - the warranty company are doing some investigation and have yet to agree to pay....

I presume they will try and duck out of paying - here are some more details.....

Fault Code P2584
Fuel Additive Module

Cost......
Fluid 160.17 plus VAT
Module 222.70 plus VAT

Supposed to be done every 75000 miles - trouble is, this car has only done 64000.......

Any comments / thoughts and advice would be most warmly welcomed.....

Regards

This is the "addblue" or similar diesel catalyst addative to help remove soot particles from the exhaust

I believe it knows how many times a fuel filler pipe has been put in so perhaps there has been a lot of previous filling of small amounts that have confused the ECU

Ahhh I've got the t-shirt on this one

As Richard rightly says, this is a fuel additive that it is needed for the diesel engine.
I'll try and find my original post about and edit this post...

Thank you lawe!!

However, looks like the warranty company will try and get out of paying!!

How much did the garage charge for this? I am curious....

Thanks in advance
Nosh

Hope your sitting down......

The fluid alone was 149.64 + VAT
The labour charge for it was 1.5 hours and they did a very good job though I did not goto a dealer, I went somewhere more professional!

They are based in Southampton and to be honest well worth the trip.

I haven't taken a car to a garage for years!

Its strange, you know - you spend more money on a car, thinking that you will save in the long run, but these sort of traps are waiting to to snag me!!

Cheers for your help
Nosh

Is this additive on all the diesels?
It's not mentioned anywhere for 2008 1.8 tdci Titanium

It's inclusion depends on which version of the Euro emission standard the engine is homolgated to

I would expect it to be part of most diesels now. It has been part of the "heavies" for quite a while (Euro IV,V or VI)
