Alarm randomly going off

Hi all I have a 53 plate cmax and over the last couple of weeks the alarm would randomly go off and I cannot find the cause and it's starting to annoy the neighbours especially when it does it during the night. Has anyone else had this problem?
It's the standard ford alarm set up

Not sure about the C-Max, but I used to have a 54-Plate Focus for work, and that did it when the main battery was getting tired.

I've had the same occasional problem with my 53 plate 1.8 Zetec. I thought it was wind rocking the car (I live on the Menai Straits in North Wales and we get pretty big gusts form time to time, but had never considered the battery. Mine, with 163,295 miles on the clock is still on the original battery!

Hi inewland, if you do a search of the forum there are quite a few threads on the issue of alarms randomly going off so its quite common, bonnet & tailgate gate switches seem to cause some of these problems, so i'd be going down these paths first, if all else fails and as a last resort you can get the GEM module interrogated by fords ids system as the GEM module logs what caused the last 4 triggers!

That's interesting to know because if we have the bonnet open for any reason the next time we go out we get a message saying its not closed even though it is
