Hi, this is really a 2010 question but equally applies to all models if anybody has had the same experience. I have a small problem with the aerial catching on the garage door and was just wondering if I could replace it with a shorter aerial. It's 28cm and I was thinking of trying a 23cm one. Obviously there will be a slight reception loss but is there anything preventing me changing it considering I have DAB, navigation and all. Thanks, Paul.

The metal aerial bit is only used for FM and MW radio. The DAB gubbins is usually a wide metal strip integrated into the front or rear screen and the GPS receiver is usually in a pod on the roof. Easy check, unscrew the aerial and see if everything still works. I'm guessing it all will, you'll just get less good signal on regular radio.

I went for a Richbrook Ford Car Anti-Theft Black Short Aerial Mast which is only 11cm long and the reception is perfect!

My aerial just gets under the garage door but only if the door is to the max open , bit scary really reversing in and snagging on the garage door

I had the same problem, on my previous car and solved it by fitting a stub aerial. It is about 17cm long and works perfectly. When I changed to the C-max I swapped the aerial over. The stub aerial works fine and being only a fraction higher than the car roof line there is no problem with the garage door – provided it is open enough to walk under.
