At what speed would it be economically sensible to use sixth gear on a 2.0 Tdci?

Thanks,
Tony

I put up a engine speed against MPH calculation for the earlier CMAx version that may assist but it will always depend on what the road conditions are like as tp the amount of engine torque you need

Hi, I found just on general driving that 50mph is too slow for 6th gear, engine seems to slightly labour.
For instance, you are pottering down the Mway at 70mph then the dreaded 50mph and endless miles of roadworks appear, I always change down to 5th gear but as always it's down to personal preference.

Thanks very much - I find fifth gear more comfortable too, using sixth (when I remember!) when driving a steady 60 or more. This is my first diesel, so still on a learning curve!

I find 50Mph Ok for 6th, as long as I`m not attempting to accelerate to keep up with traffic, more a slow steady accel, although, as you say about slow traffic, 5th is far better.

I too find 5th gear ok for the 50mph average as the M3 is all up and down where the works are but anything higher then 6th gear.
When I came back from Wales, I kept to 60 with cruise control on and in 6th gear. So smooth and the MPG was so high!
