What do you think of this?

http://www.shell.co.uk/home/content/gbr/products_services/on_the_road/fuels/fuelsave/

"This fuel-efficient formula is designed to ignite and burn more effectively, helping to produce more efficient combustion in your engine. This can help you to get the most out of every drop of Shell FuelSave Diesel and to save you up to 1 litre per tank* at no extra cost.
Getting to this stage was a welcome challenge for our scientists, who relentlessly tested the fuel in their lab as well as on the road so that each time you fill up, you can save."

Petrol available too.

Just filled up with it! Only because it's the cheapest in my area by 2p though.
We'll see how it holds up......

Probably cannabis scent to make you drive more sedately, immediate MPG improvement!.
I think it must have a better Cetane rating, you wont need to accelerate as hard to get same performance etc..
On the subject of which, anyone tried a Cetane booster? Mixed reviews on other sites I've seen.

I've tried it and I think it makes mine sound noisier. Subjective I know but it didn't seem to run as smoothly. Always used shell in the past as my local garage is shell and is usually cheapest. There is also a lot of online disquiet with this fuel (google for more info)
I also use Millers diesel additive for a cetane boost which has helped with old diesel.

Now gone back to supermarket fuel, with millers, and seems smother again.

All this anecdotal of course. Don't have any data on fuel consumption.

On second tank full, initial thoughts are engine smoother when cruising, last tank lasted 579 miles before needle went near red(no fuel light on though) went 86 miles today,A road cruising and needle just moved off full. trip computer 86 miles done, 529 miles left so far. happy with cost, equal to local supermarket. i mostly use shell anyway and had fuel flush carried out at ford's on last servicing. it was well worth it.

Have been using Shell for the past few weeks and checking tankful to tankful.
Last week I did over 600 miles of mixed driving and am averaging just under 50mpg.
Car seems to run smoothly on it too.
