I have done something pretty insane! I have signed up for Ironman 70.3 triathlon in Exmoor next year costing £220. The event consists of a 1.2 mile open water swim followed by a 56 mile cycle followed by a half marathon(classed as half ironman). The challenge alone would be hard enough but I'm not exactly a fitness finatic.
I'm overweight and borderline obese at 5,5 and 12 stone 10. So this is a massive challenge! I'm not really a coach potato or anything but have an average fitness level. Even so this is a massive undertaking but something drastic had to change. I'll now be hitting the gym for around 2 hours a day for the next 330 days until raceday!
I have a website Ian Gregory's Ironman training Blog
please have a look at my website. If you like you can follow my progress as I'll be posting a weekly update on my fitness and weight loss goals.
I also have decided to do it all for charity as I may as well try and earn a good cause a few quid on my way. I've chosen cancer research uk as my charity. I have a just giving page attached to my website so please make a donation it's so simple. Ever penny helps.
Thanks for reading over my post
Greg. getting fitter by the day!
Ps. All race fees and equipment will be paid for out of my now redundant beer fund not any charity donations. All donations go to charity. ALL!!!
