Aldi (yes we have them too) are offering snow chains for CHF24.90 a set (2) so at least here it is a cheap way to equip for the mountain runs.

That Pic was taken at the bottom of the road up into our development. The road is private, so the Council don't clear it. The road I'm on was cleared after an hour or so when the plough went through. We had drifts as big to dig out before our access was passable!That shovel (And others) was well used that day I can tell you!

When I lived in the UK, we had the assistance of the USAF who cleared the route to a local farm which was getting short of feed for the animals the snow had drifted and had literally filled the road with snow as it was banked on both sides. The snow was over eight feet high, though at that time seemed much more to me. The military crew piled the snow near my home and it formed a "mountain" which gave us a fantastic toboggan run for the winter season[img]smileys/smiley40.gif[/img]
