Had my first serious drive in the (her) CMax yesterday. Drove from South Suffolk to near Doncaster and back - around 240 miles in total. One comfort break on the way there, non-stop on the way back. Very impressed with the comfort (smooth ride, no aches or pains afterwards), performance (cruising at 70+ at low revs in near silence)and economy (averaging 52mpg but it's not yet really run-in). Only two slight problems: first remembering to change up into 6th - I know it has a reminder on the display but it's very discreet, old duffers like me could do with a big sign accompanied by a gong sound! Second, rememberig that reverse is in an entirely different location to that of the old Focus! Both pilot error so no criticism of what is a very well designed concept. One of the reasons we changed was because the Focus' ride was just a bit too hard although its handling and roadholding were excellent. We were willing to trade off a bit of that for increased ride comfort but to be honest, for normal road/traffic conditions, the Cmax's handling and roadholding are more than adequate, in my opinion anyway. Ps we are also in the Sudbury area!
