OK,

I bought my cmax 2 months ago and so far it has been back to the dealer 2 times with another 2 visits (at least) due for various electrical faults.

Visit 1 Central locking fault. Sent to local garage who is known in the trade as 'bypass ken'. Bodged repair
Visit 2 Central locking fault. Sent to specialist auto electrician. Fault fixed by using conductive grease on the contacts for the central locking reciever
Visit 3 (upcoming) Problem with the oxygen sensor on the exhaust, that meant we had to call out the AA

Also the central locking is playing up again, and the clock on the stereo will not hold the correct time and date.

Wifey has now lost all confidence in the car, and is making noises about testicles and vices if I do not get this sorted out.

Where do I stand with regards to car replacement or refunds? Thing is, I really like the car, and anyway, I would loose a fortune on trade in if I was to get rid of it.

Start here with respect to the Sale of Goods Act
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1979/54/contents

The case is that any fault that occurs within 6 months of purchase is deemed to have been there at purchase
A chat with trading standards as well

Thanks Richard.

I think that I will have 'a chat' with the dealer tomorrow and see where we go from there. I'll keep you informed. *goes off to get knuckle dusters*

I think as well I am going to insist on a replacement central locking receiver, a new body module, plus a full network check and anything that looks even slightly dodgy to be replaced. I have to keep this car for three years as it is financed over that time, so I really don't need a car that is going to be going wrong every 3 weeks.

Quick update and did a quick calculation on the parts that may be needed. Nearly 2000!!!!!! Plus labour. No wonder the dealer is reluctant to fix the problems properly!

Ah well, not my problem.

Also the dealer said that he would do a full service (75000 miles) and only change the oil, oil filter and the air filter. Thanks to the guy who posted up the Ford Etis website, I now have so much ammunition against this dealer, I can keep firing for hours!

You don't say if it is petrol or diesel but if it's diesel at 75K it's close to needing the diesel urea additive tank refilling as well

No, it's the 1.8 duratec. Anyway just got back from collecting the car and going for a run in the car and guess what?? NO DIFFERENCE! I am seriously hacked off now. Despite giving very specific instructions as to the problem, still not fixed.

OK, so now I have to wait until it goes to an auto electrician on Wednesday for a full wiring check and sensor fault check. Very very annoyed.

I am in two minds if I should name and shame the dealer on here, Ford Owners Club and Facebook.

OK, i've just got back from the dealer with my wife. He swore at her, slammed the door on her and then started to have a go at me! The guy is unbelievable!!

However, the car has been dropped off for the central locking system fixed. I've also found out why he was in such a bad mood, he's been threatened with court action twice in one day. Once from me and once from another blue cmax owner.

On a different thread entirely, I was concerned to hear that my neighbour can make cars disappear, and also car salesmen.........

It might be worth putting in writing to the dealership and to trading standards your experience of the outcome just so nobody can say it didn't happen sometime later

just thought might also be worth adding Ford UK and Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders as well
http://www.smmt.co.uk/
May not get you anywhere but the dealer won't probably know that either
