Does anybody else have trouble removing the fuel filler cap on new models? On my 59-plate Titanium (bought last October) I've always needed both hands to remove the cap but last week it gave a loud crack and separated into two parts - the part that came off in my hand and the part that remained firmly inserted in the hole. My Ford dealer fitted a new one which then took me nearly five minutes to shift using both hands: is it me? Honestly, without wishing to be the least bit sexist, a woman wouldn't be able to get it off - my partner couldn't shift it. Anyway, I have to use so much force on the new one that I just know I'm going to break it again. Anyone got any ideas?

Mine is the opposite - touch it and it is undone.
Sounds like the design has been changed on later cars.
Is your car petrol or diesel?

Petrol; it's a 2L Automatic Titanium. The only thing I haven't tried is either grease or vaseline - I don't know if it would contaminate the fuel. The bit that got stuck in the hole is a shaped polythene seal and it doesn't give, whereas other cars I've had (I drove Mondeos for years)had a neoprene seal. Penny pinching seemes to make little sense to me when I'm paying 20k!
