Just wondering if any 1 has blanked off the dreaded egr valve on the 1:6tdci zetec on my 3rd 1 & only done 49k & any probs mot test etc where 2 blank off from

Hi Arthur, I have a 1.6 TDCI Zetec, and I was getting an error code for the EGR, so I decided to take the valve off and clean it. When I got it off I found the mechanism under the motor had broken and with it being late Sunday and no way of fixing it, I made a blaking plate to go between the valve and the engine block, out of a pice of 2mm plate. I have found that the car is a little bit smoother around town and when on a long run the MIL light returns, but I just clear it once a week with my code reader.
