The diesel C max's are not brilliant the petrol version is much better. They dont give much bother and give over 35 MPG. Ive had my 1.6 LX Focus C max for nearly 3 years and has not given any bother.

Steve1993, I'm pleased your 1.6 petrol has given you 3yrs trouble free motoring, but I disagree with your view of the diesel variants of the c-max, I'm sure if you trawl through this clubs forum there are many many owners of the 3 petrol variants 1.6/1.8 & 2.0 who haven't had the 3yrs trouble free motoring you have experienced, they have had lots of issues, I've owned mine now for 2yrs & other than the normal service parts its been trouble free & there are more like me, the ford 2.0 TDCI which is in mine is an excellent engine in fact its the most powerful engine fitted to the c-max range whether petrol or diesel, like I said earlier I'm very pleased you've had 3yrs trouble free motoring in your petrol variant but that is no reason to slate the diesel variants.

I'd back up wholeheartedly what Anthony says regarding the 2.0 TDCi. It's a cracking lump and is up there with VAG and BMW when it comes to power and refinement. The 2.0 Diesel is the fastest model in the line up, of the MK1 & 2 at any rate and also benefits from the 6 speed 'box which, compared to the 5 speeder on the others, is an absolute joy to use. I'd have it before a petrol 2.0 any day of the week.
Mine averages 47 mpg between fills, (REAL MPG, not according to the computer) and that's a mix of short runs of a mile or so to the shops and back and a 23 mile trip to town a couple of times a week. About the same as my 2.0 HDi (90) Picasso and the 2.0 HDi (110) Xantia I had before that. They would both make mid 50's on the run from Aberdeen to S Yorks when we were on Holiday, so I have great expectations! I've not had the Max on that run yet.
The latest version of the engine which is fitted to PSA vehicles is rated at 160 BHP. I don't know if Ford are using it yet but I would imagine so.
