I love the implication that the Renault Espace is more reliable than the C-Max! A more gimmicky and irritating car you'd struggle to find than Renault, as my other half will testify! My 04 C-Max Zetec has 120,000 on it and it's a 1.8 petrol. Nothing but service items have been replaced and it hasn't let me down once!

Thankfully i am able to afford to run 2 family cars if i could only manage one the max would go.
I have been working with Renault the last 15 years.
DONT

I can speak only from experience. Generally the Renault experience has been very poor. Very expensive parts, horrendous servicing costs and poor main dealer back up does not make the vehicles tempting. Fraud dealers are much the same but at least with Ford parts they are generally much cheaper and spurious parts are more widely available. I use a local independent Ford specialist as they provide Ford parts and do a much better job of servicing and working on the vehicle. My missus' Renault Megane Cabrio has had all the suspension changed, unevn tyre wear still apparent even after full diagnostic check. On start up has a banging noise (possibly air recirculation system fault?) coming from the front near side dash area (Renault quoted 750 to fix this!!!!), 3 batteries in 6 years, and occasionally the power roof 'freezes', eventually sorting itself. The electric aerial - nodon't get me started on that - I bet there isn't a Megane on the road over about 4 years old that hasn't had the power aerial seize up!!The car has only 38K on it but has had far more problems than my C-Max with 120K!! Noo I'm not convinced - we always take the c-max as it has caused us no bother!I think the early diesel C-Maxes had a few problems though most should have been sorted by now.
